The Flood Is Over!

THE FLOOD IS OVER

(Genesis 8:10-11)

According to  The Chambers Dictionary, a flood is “a great flow of water; an inundation; a deluge; a condition of abnormally great flow in a river; a river or other water; the rise of the tide; any great inflow or out flow, for instance of light, tears or visitors; a flood light.” A flood very often has to do with a sudden outburst, outflow and rapid increase in the volume/quantity of a thing. Such sudden outburst can cause mighty destructions, loss of lives and properties and disorganization. There can be a flood of water, air, sand, light, etc.

While it is true that a flood or certain things in life can be a blessing; such a flood when not well managed or harnessed can cause destruction. A flood of God’s blessing when not well managed can bring destruction. A flood of miracle and healing when not well managed can bring destruction. What you don’t have the capacity to carry may destroy you if you receive it.

The rain can only fill a container to its capacity after then it will overflow. In either way, whether a flood is positive or negative, it might end up in destroying things depending on the response given to it. My concern is to announce to you that the negative flood you are facing is over. A flood of God’s peace, healing and blessing are coming to you. Heaven will give you the capacity to carry it.

Long time ago, the entire world was inundated in sin and wickedness. In biblical imagery, God regretted for creating people (Genesis 6:6-7). In response, God would allow a mighty flood of rain and water to cover the whole earth. That flood caused the destructions of human lives and properties. It caused the destruction of plant and animal lives; all creatures were condemned to destruction. All of life was to be created anew. Only Noah and his family and a pair of two animals each and some other sustainers were saved by God’s mercy and generosity. Noah and his family and the pair of animals and the other sustainers were kept alive in the ark.

Noah, his family, the pair of each animal and other sustainers were in the ark for about forty days and forty nights. That flood that devastated the world caused insecurity, disorganized things, put an end to people’s lives and desires. The flood did not last forever; it came to an end. I don’t know the flood you are facing now in your life; I don’t know the flood that is threatening your family. I don’t know the flood that is threatening your business. I don’t know the flood that is threatening you from actualizing your destiny. It is possible the flood might have been precipitated by your licentious living or ignorance of the fundamental principles for peaceful living. Whatever has caused the flood, I pray that God’s mercy, kindness and compassion will come upon your life and situation.

God’s mercy and power will bring the flood to an end in your life. The evil financial flood is over. The evil marriage flood is over. The evil flood coming against your destiny is over. May God turn every bad flood in your life to a good flood.

The flood of Noah came to an end when in Genesis 8:1-3, God dried up the waters of the flood by a strong mighty wind. The wind in the scripture is symbolic of the Holy Spirit. In Exodus 14:21, God drove back the waters of the Red Sea by a strong east wind. In Ezekiel 37:9, it was the mighty wind that brought life to the dry bones. In John 3, speaking of the effect of the Holy Spirit, Jesus said, ‘The wind blow where it wills.’ In Genesis 1:2, the power of God, which is the spirit, was moving as a strong wind on top of the primeval water. The Holy Spirit then is a power that drives back the flood that endangers our lives. He is the power that drives back insecurity in our lives. The Spirit then is the power that makes things hold. The spirit then is the power responsible for restoration. No wonder the Spirit is called the spirit of peace. When Jesus breathed the Spirit upon his Apostles in John 20, he said ‘My spirit I give to you.’

The evidence that the spirit brings peace is manifested in the dove that Noah sent out of the ark. The dove returned with an olive branch, a fresh olive branch for that matter. It was a sign that the fold was over; a new beginning has emerged. New dreams and new possibilities had come. Nation building could begin again. A new people have come into being.

I wish you well, remember the flood is over. The dove has arrived. Keep living in an atmosphere of positive peace. Shalom!
